But we are quite fond of them! The Annotated Mountain Goats is a wonderful guide to the music of the Mountain Goats from 1992 to 2017. Inspired by it, this website aims to provide a similar guide to the band's music from 2017 to the present day.

A Note on This Year: 365 Songs Annotated

Released in late 2025, John Darnielle's book This Year: 365 Songs Annotated contains lyrics and substantial annotations for 365 Mountain Goats songs. This site may reproduce song names and lyrics from the book (including otherwise-unknown songs), but at this time it will not copy annotations from it. Copying the annotations would just be copying the whole book.
